Moon Garden – Your Night Time Oasis

Notice how the addition of the bench makes the moon garden a comfy place to relax?

In the hustle-bustle of our daily lives, we often do not have the time to enjoy our gardens.  We work, shuttle our children to practices, run errands.  By the time we get home, the day has escaped us, and relaxing becomes priority.  A Moon Garden is an excellent way we can enjoy the outdoors in our backyards, the soft glow and soothing fragrances of the plants we love around us.

When selecting plants for a Moon Garden, plants with large glossy leaves or pale flowers (white or blue),will be the focal point.  Theses plants are wonderful for reflecting the Moon’s beams.  Night blooming Moonflower is an obvious choice because it does in fact bloom at night and has a wonderful lemony scent.  Varying texture and size will also create a luminous, dreamy, effect.  Here is our list of plants ideal for a Moon Garden:

Gazing Balls, solar light stakes, and/or Starlight Lanterns with twinkle lights, strategically placed throughout your Moon Garden will heighten the allure of your garden and give luster to the objects below.  Also, a Moon Garden is less about visual stimulation as it is about appeasing your other senses.  If your garden is large enough, you may want to consider adding an outdoor water feature, such as a fountain, to lend a soothing sensation of a babbling brook to your lunar flower bed.
