Holly, Woods, and Vines

HWV is co-owned and operated by John and Vanessa. The beautifully balanced partnership began in 1989 when John purchased Evermay, a local plant company, where both John and Vanessa were employed. The two, John with his landscape expertise, and Vanessa, with her vast knowledge (she has a degree in Horticulture) and impeccable taste in plants, pooled their talents, skills, expertise, and fresh ideas, and met the gardening demands of the ever-growing, Northern Virginia community, sprouting a flourishing full service garden center.

John’s and Vanessa’s vision continues to grow and evolve. Future enhancements include a more European flavor to its grounds, buildings, and greenhouses, and instructional classes. In the meantime, HWV is steadfast in meeting its customers’ needs, and thusly, an eager, knowledgeable, and attentive staff is on hand to answer questions and discuss planting options and care. Staff will advise proper planting procedures, soil amendment, and recommend the best products to encourage growth, liven color, and prevent insect and disease. HWV stocks the best in lawn and garden maintenance products, soils, mulches, and tools.
